P

adre Pio was inspired to start these groups in response to Pius XII's exhortation in the world to pray for peace following World War II.

Padre Pio said "Let us pull up our sleeves and pray"

There are now over 2000 prayer group’s world-wide and 250 in this country alone. They are an inspiration to each member, to their Parish and to the Church. Pope John Paul II gave them his blessing on many occasions.

Saint Pio died on September 23rd 1968 on the 50th anniversary of receiving the Stigmata, the wounds of Christ's Passion.

He suffered the pains of those wounds lovingly and willingly to save souls and to help those in need who asked for his intercession.

He said I can refuse no one. Thousands visited him and even more now visit his Tomb, to beg his help.

He said in his lifetime when I am dead I shall do so much more and this promise has been proved thousands of times, for God has granted him incredible powers of intercession on our behalf.

Our parish group currently meets every second Monday in the month 7:30 pm at Holy Trinity.
